Mean Green Screen / HIV Test Site
The Mean Green Screen began in 1993 when the Student Health & Wellness Center implemented a free, anonymous HIV test site. HIV testing has been offered every semester since then with thousands of UNT students receiving education and risk reduction counseling as part of each session. The screening is free thanks to the support of community agencies, the Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse (GDCADA), and Tarrant County Mental Health & Mental Retardation. Professionals from these agencies join Meadows Center staff to provide this service. Results are available in less than 30 minutes.
HIV Test Kits are provided by grants and funding through the state Department of Health Services and the Texas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. All persons who schedule an appointment for the screening test must be identified as having a risk exposure, such as unprotected sexual activity, multiple partners or other exposure to blood or body fluids. Before each testing session trained Prevention Based Counselors must assess the risk and determine the need for testing. Persons with no identified risk will receive education services but will not be eligible for HIV testing.
Participants in the testing should allow one hour for the process. Each session includes pre-test counseling, risk reduction education, test administration, test results and post-test counseling. To schedule an appointment, please call (940)565-2787.
All HIV testing is provided by certified HIV test site Prevention Based counselors who are registered through the Department of State Health Services. Free HIV testing is made available through collaborative agreements with the Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Tarrant County MHMR.
Responsible Tailgating: Make Tailgating Yours
The SARC encourages Mean Green spirit activities, including responsible tailgating before UNT home football games. The Make Tailgating Yours initiative was created to inspire the student body to be safe, respectful and law-abiding in their pregame activities. We encourage designated drivers, family friendly tailgating, recycling trash and cans, going to the game, and having fun with pregame festivities.
Free student parking off Prairie, behind tennis courts. There are few spots available. $10 parking is available in Fouts lot. This is where most of the tailgating happens. You must get there early for one of these spots. Alcohol is allowed if over 21. Glass bottles are discouraged. Kegs, funnels, or any behavior suggesting abuse of alcohol will not be allowed. Grassy area next to tennis courts is open for picnic style tailgating. Surprise prizes will be waiting for designated drivers. Food, fun, and friends are encouraged. Your student ID is your ticket to the game.
Remember to be responsible, pick-up your trash, recycle your bottles and cans, and go support your Mean Green!

Summary of Programs
The Meadows Center for Health Resources offers variety of programs for the on-campus needs of the students of the University of North Texas. Programs are conducted by highly trained professionals who are knowledgeable in all pertinent areas of health education. The purpose of these presentations is to enable UNT students to make responsible and informed health decisions. Programs are often serious in nature but presenters strive, whenever possible, to make these presentations light-hearted, fun and informative.
If you are interested in scheduling a program please call 940-565-2787.
Please keep in mind that the Health Educators do programming all over the campus for many different departments, organizations, and staff/faculty. So if it is at all possible, have multiple dates in mind when requesting a program.
